Chase Student Loans

Chase offers a variety of student loans, from private loans to federal loans. Now the best way to start applying for student loans is to meet with the financial aid officer at the school you want to attend. They will give you the necessary forms and direct you towards the lenders that are in your area that provide student loans because not all banks are part of the federal student loan program. You’ll have to apply for financial aid every year because financial situations can change within that time frame, so all you will need to do is go to your financial aid officer and start the process again.

The federal loans that Chase offers are the Stafford, Parent PLUS, and Graduate PLUS loans. With Stafford loans payments aren’t required while you are still in school (however it is a good idea to start paying early), flexible payment options, no credit check, and the interest may be tax deductible. For the Parent PLUS loans you are given to repayment options, pay within 60 days of the loan being fully disbursed or a 6 month grace period after the dependent student graduates. Chase offers a .25% interest rate reduction for having monthly payments taken out directly from your bank account and they offer a quick and easy application process. The Graduate PLUS Loans are quite the same as Parent PLUS Loans within what Chase offers you and what options the Parent PLUS Loans offer, however are different in that Graduate PLUS Loans doesn’t have an income or collateral requirement.

Chase also offers Chase Select Private Student Loans. These loans are credit based private loans that must be certified by your financial aid office. Your school may require that you fill out your FAFSA if you haven’t already (it’s a good idea to do this before college starts anyway to limit stress). You are able to add a cosigner to the loan to help you qualify and to get a lower interest rate. No payments are required while in school, no repayment fees, and funds are sent directly to the school. Chase Select Private Student Loans can cover tuition, living expenses, books, and other things that are needed for college.

When you start to make payments you’ll be able to write one check for all the loans that are serviced by Chase Student Loan Servicing and can also be paid automatically from your checking or savings account each month. Remember to talk to the financial aid officer at the school you either want to go to or are currently attending for more information. Be sure to fill out your FAFSA early to take one thing off your list of things to do for college.
